A group of Tybee Residents loved the way Tiffany
Turtle looked on the porch of the newly restored
Fort Screven Guard House on Tybee Island.
Tiffany was one of many turtles who wandered all
over Tybee during the past couple of years. She
was part of the Tybee Arts Association's Turtle
Tour: Artistically interpreted larger than life sized
fiber glass turtles. At the completion of the Tour,
Tiffany was auctioned off to benefit her natural
cousins, the loggerheads and terrapin of Tybee.
But the Residents missed Tiffany. They contacted
the artist, Mary Ingalls, and inquired about making
another turtle that might take her place.
Stated the Artist, “What a compliment! To be able
to make a fun public art creature that will go on
permanent display! AND It is a real tribute to the
Tybee Turtle Tour”. The Tybee Turtle Tour, a
public art event that ended last fall, populated
Tybee with 20 giant turtles with personality.
Tiffany 2 resembles the original Tiffany Turtle in
overall shape and is lit from within. The images on
the turtle and the coloring are totally different.

About Mary Ingalls
What began as a part-time fancy has blossomed
into a full-time passion for stained-glass artist,
Mary Ingalls. Known for her technical expertise
and creative renderings, Mary's pieces are
recognized from Cape Elizabeth, Maine, where she
grew up, to Tybee Island, Georgia where she now
lives and works.
Drawn to the Southeast's
changing sea and sky, Mary pushes her traditional
craft to bold new expressions of the fun and
fanciful. Mary not only creates from her lively
imagination, she accepts work on commission for
private and commercial customers designing and
installing pieces that enhance both the home and
office.
Mary shares her success with her friends and
supporters. Many thanks to Michael Bodine who
made Tiff’s shell transparent and Nancy Adams
who gave life to Tiff’s face and body. Denise
Vernon, Richard Adams and Tybee Arts Council
Board members have also helped bring Tiffany 2
to her permanent existence at the Guard House.
It takes a community.
