Volunteer Tybee!

On behalf of our Volunteer Tybee Planning
Committee, United Way's Hands on
Savannah and Tybee Neighbors, we want to
thank all of you who made our first Volunteer
Tybee Event so successful.

We sincerely appreciate the great work of all
of our volunteer organizations who
represented their organizations so effectively
during our recruitment fair. We hope this
event and our future p.r.efforts will bring
new volunteers and contributions for your
organizations.

We also appreciate all those who attended to
learn more about and recognize the
wonderful work of Tybee volunteers. Your
presence and support were vital in making
this a great event.

A special thanks to Douglas Jones who
contributed the banners and Mayor
Buelterman for the Proclamation and for
being supportive of the event.

We also want to thank all those who
contributed door prizes. The door prizes
helped make it a festive event.

Volunteer Tybee  involved hundreds of those
who recognize the importance of volunteers
on Tybee Island.

A total of 387 votes were cast for our
"Volunteer Tybee Organization of 2009".
We want to congratulate the Milton Project
for winning this honor.

Cyndi Kinkel of The Tybee Times took great
pictures of the event and WSAV had
coverage that really captured the spirit of
Volunteer Tybee on the news Wednesday
night. To view the pictures and/or the news

Tybee Treasures, the delightful video that
captures the specialness of Tybee Island, is now
being updated. While the video was originally
produced to help tourists understand all that
the Island offers, locals have also enjoyed it
over the past several years.  We made small
changes in 2009 but now are adding several
new segments that include references to the 2
movies made on Tybee last summer.

A committee consisting of members of non-
profit organizations who worked on the original
video is now planning new video and script
changes. Our plan is to complete filming by April
10th and have the new video available by June
1st. The new video will replace the one currently
playing two times a day on Channel 7. It will
also be distributed to Georgia welcome centers.
Copies will be available for sale at local gift
shops.

In order to fund the updates of the video we
are now seeking sponsorships of non-profits,
Tybee businesses and individuals.

The following are sponsorship details:

Non-profits are encouraged to contribute $25.
Their names and phone numbers will be listed
on the cover of the video and in the rolling
credits at the end of the video. They will also
receive a free copy of the video. Additional
copies will be available for non-profit sponsors
for $5.00 each.

Businesses are encouraged to contribute $50.

on the cover of the video and in the rolling
credits at the end of the video. They will also

Individuals are encouraged to contribute $25.

Thanks for your support of this important
community project.
